Russia becomes second largest supplier of oil to India

Russia became the second largest supplier of oil to India in May, Reuters writes, citing its own sources.

"Russia became the second largest supplier of oil to India in May, displacing Saudi Arabia to third place, but still behind Iraq, which remains in first place", the agency notes, RIA Novosti reports.

In May, Indian refineries received about 819,000 barrels of Russian oil per day, the highest figure during all the months. In April, it was about 277,000.

India's total oil imports was 4.98 million bpd in May, it's the highest one since December 2020, driven by the country's rising fuel demand.
