Special Representative of the Secretary-General in Syria Staffan de Mistura received a letter from the head of the Russian Defense Ministry, Sergei Shoigu, calling to increase urgently the volume of humanitarian aid to Syria through the UN and humanitarian organizations.
The head of the defense department noted that additional efforts of the international community are needed to assist the Syrian population, including the most active participation in the reconstruction of destroyed houses, schools, hospitals and infrastructure facilities.
