Russia comments on U.S. threats to derail Nord Stream 2

The construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project will be finished despite the U.S. efforts to derail the venture, CEO of Russia's Gazprom Alexey Miller said.

Yesterday, U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland said that Washington has instruments to slow down or even stop the Nord Stream 2.

"Well, you see everything yourself - 200 kilometers have already been built. And the rest will be completed," Miller told the Kommersant newspaper.

The United States, seeking to promote its liquefied natural gas in the European market, has made a number of attempts to impede the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project and even incorporated a provision for counteracting the construction of the pipeline in its Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act.
