Russia mourns victims of Kemerovo tragedy

Russia's Kemerovo region will observe three days of mourning starting March 27 for the victims of a shopping mall fire, the regional administration said in a statement.

"The mourning will last for three days from March 27 to 29. The corresponding order was signed by the governor Aman Tuleyev. On the days of mourning, the state flags of the Russian Federation and the flags of the region will be lowered on the whole territory of the Kemerovo region," the statement says.

The statement added that all institutions, organizations and TV and radio companies are recommended to cancel recreational activities.

The mourning was also declared in Ryazan region. Kaluga region, Primorsky Krai, Yekaterinburg and Ingushetia.

The fire started on the top floor of the four-storey Zimnyaya Vishnya (or Winter Cherry) shopping mall on March 25, engulfing an area of some 1500 square meters. According to the most recent data, a total of 64 people were killed in the fire, 60 injured were treated in hospitals, 15 of them were hospitalized and 40 received outpatient care. The bodies of 25 victims have already been identified.
