Russia plans to return several military training grounds to Kazakhstan

Russia plans to hand over the unused military training grounds leased from Kazakhstan in order to save some $4 million annually, the Speaker of Russia’s State Duma Sergey Naryshkin said.

He noted that the relevant agreement will be ratified by the Russian lawmakers on Friday.

The military training ground 'Sary-Shagan', located on the territory of Zhambyl and Karaganda regions, is leased by Russia since the 1990s. In addition, many polygons of the State Flight Test Center of the Defense Ministry of Russia are located in Kazakhstan at a distance of 800 kilometers from the control center located in Russia's Astrakhan region, RIA Novosti reports.
