Russia's Foreign Ministry has rejected the request of the German government for a visa for German Brigadier General Gert Gavellek, who in the next few days was supposed to take the post of military attaché at the German Embassy in Moscow.
"There was no explanation from the Russian side," the magazine Spiegel writes, drawing attention to the fact that "diplomatic circles of Germany believe that this incident is a "counter measure".
"Whatever it was, the already complicated relations with Russia because of the crisis in Ukraine have suffered another blow," RIA Novosti cites the article.
