Russia remains Türkiye’s top oil supplier

According to the January data, Russia is still the main exporter of oil and oil products for Türkiye. Türkiye’s second top exporter is Iraq. 

The main exporter of oil and oil products to Türkiye in the first month of 2023 was Russia.

In total, the Russian Federation supplied Türkiye with 1.18 mn tons of oil and oil products. Iraq is the second top supplier: Türkiye imported more than 917,000 tons of Iraqi oil. On the third place is Kazakhstan with 683,000 tons of oil.

General dynamics

In general, Türkiye imported 3.64% less oil in January than in the same period of 2022. The total volume of oil import amounted to 3.45 mn tons.

The volume of refined oil products imported increased by 7.3% and amounted to 2.2 mn tons.

Russia completely ignored the oil embargo

The Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation announced earlier the complete redirection of Russian oil exports that fell due to the embargo.

Nikolai Shulginov stressed that Western sanctions did not affect the level of oil production and refining, export volumes and oil budget revenues – thanks to interaction with Asian, African, and Latin American countries.
