Russia's ambassador: Karabakh conflict cannot be achieved through pressure

Russia's ambassador to Azerbaijan, Vladimir Dorokhin, said during the meeting with students of Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) that Moscow is a friend for both Baku and Yerevan.

“We are not putting these two countries against each other. We are not cooperating with either Azerbaijan in favor of or against Armenia. This is the case with both countries’ diasporas in Russia. We do not want Russia to be a common ground for Azerbaijanis and Armenians to settle some resentment. Our entire state policy is aimed at this. But when they say that in Russia Azerbaijanis are treated worse than Armenians, it is an emotional saying. I hope it’s temporary,” he said.

"The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must be resolved by Azerbaijan and Armenia. Whoever says Russia can settle the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in 15-20 minutes is mistaken. Russia can only be a mediator in this issue. The necessary result cannot be achieved through pressure on both sides. It should be based on trust and only your countries can establish it," Trend cited Dorokhin as saying.
