Moscow is beginning the celebration of Pancake Week – holiday celebrations will be held not only in the center but also in the most remote areas of the city, the Mayor's office said.
"All cultural institutions prepared their own programs: parks, libraries, cultural centers, museums, art schools and movie theaters. More than 1500 festive events will be held at 500 sites," the office added. The city will be visited by about 500 thousand tourists, TASS reports.
Guests of the carnival will participate in exciting competitions, masterclasses, interactive events, tasting pancakes, music concerts, theatrical performances and programs for children.
The culmination of the festival will be the ceremonial burning of 'Lady Maslenitsa' on March 13.
