Russia to deploy latest anti-aircraft missiles to Crimea

Russia plans to deploy its latest S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems to Crimea in August, The Moscow Times‎ reported, citing the Interfax news agency.

The S-400, effective at a range of 400 kilometers, is Russia’s latest anti aircraft-missile system and is designed to destroy cruise and ballistic missiles, including medium-range missiles, aircraft and can also be used against ground targets.

“The new Triumph missile systems will be sent to Crimea in August, following testing," said Yevgeny Oleinkov, a spokesman for the 31st division of the 18th missile regiment, Interfax reported.

The missiles, produced by Russia’s state-owned arms producer Almaz-Antey will be permanently installed in the Crimean city of Feodosia from August, Interfax reported.
