Russia to freeze retirement savings

 It was decided to freeze retirement savings, the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets said.

"Retirement savings will be frozen," Golodets said adding that transfer to the pension fund is not planned. 

"We have not planned it, extreme limits have already been reached," TASS cited Golodets as saying.

Decision-making on retirement savings freeze matter is in the competence of the Russian government, the press secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov said, commenting on the decision to extend the pension investment part freeze.

"These questions should be addressed to the government; this is the government’s decision," Peskov said. He did not disclose the opinion of President Vladimir Putin on this issue. "I cannot tell you now," Peskov said.
