Ilgar Mamedov, chief coach of the Russian fencing team, said in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza that the team will get more gold medals in fencing at the First European Games in Baku. He reminded that Russia had won a bronze medal on Tuesday, two silver and one bronze medal on Wednesday. The coach added that many good Russian fencers were preparing for the world championship, which will start in two weeks, and had to skip the European Games. Besides, the Russian team won three gold, three silver and three bronze medals at the European championship in Switzerland.
Mamedov emphasized that the team was disposed to get gold.
The Russian coach praised the reception at the airport the Athletes' Village, transportation, training rooms.
Mamedov called Sabina Mikina a prominent Azerbaijani fencer. He expressed readiness to share Russian fencers to help Azerbaijan get more medals.
