The Russian government will allocate $15.625 billion (1 trillion rubles) for the development of the domestic defense industry, the Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said.
"This year, the government has approved a new version of the program for developing the defense and industrial sector. The program is large and is also designed for a perspective. Overall, financing in the amount of about 1 trillion rubles is intended for this program," TASS cited the Russian premier as saying.
According to Medvedev, the program will focus on retooling Russian defense enterprises and providing them with new equipment.
