The Russian State Duma urged the United States parliamentarians to resume bilateral dialogue, Leonid Slutsky, chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, said.
According to him, relations between Moscow and Washington remain one of the most important factors for world stability and security. "Despite recent Russophobic hysteria in the United States, we attach great importance to mutual cooperation and are committed to dialogue with our partners," Interfax quoted him as saying.
“Based on this, I want to once again mention proposals to resume inter-parliamentary cooperation and send corresponding letter of congratulations to new chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives as soon as he is elected,” Slutsky said.
In addition, Slutsky recalled that in the summer of 2018, American delegation visited the Russian Federation, and contacts were partially resumed. “That's why this time we are counting on more constructive reaction from American side,” politician stressed.
On July 3, 2018, the US parliamentary delegation paid a visit to Russia. During this visit, members of delegation visited St. Petersburg and Moscow.
