Russia intends to convene a meeting of the UN Security Council today in order to submit a draft resolution with a demand to put an end to actions that undermine the sovereignty of Syria and go against resolution 2254, the statement of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova informs.
This step was taken due to Russia's concern that Daesh militants may reach Syrian territory and create terrorist bases there, as well as Turkey's plans to deploy its troops in northern Syria, Interfax reports.
