Russia wins first military-sports games of CIS countries

The first military-sports games of friendly armies of CIS member states, held in Moscow on July 25-31, became an important step in the preparations for the CISM World Summer Games in South Korea, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Army General Arkady Bakhin said.


Teams from six countries – the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and Tajikistan – took part in the competitions. 228 athletes played 85 sets of medals at ten sports grounds. At the same time, 15 world champions and 9 European champions were fighting for victory.


Competitions were held in a militarized multisport race, officer triathlon, shooting from service weapons, unarmed combat and kettlebell lifting. In addition, the participants competed in judo, weightlifting, swimming and orienteering.


The Russian national team won the most first places: 42 gold, 20 silver and 8 bronze medals. Second place went to the army team from Belarus, and Kazakhstan was third, Interfax reports.
