Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held talks with Secretary General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit in Moscow today.
"We believe that it is important to seek the ease of evolved tensions basing on mutual respect in the interests of all countries’ development in the region. We hope that the reputation of LAS will help in this regard," Lavrov stressed.
He noted that Russia wants all Arab countries to take part in the work of the Arab League. "We want the League’s activity to be really inclusive in terms of the participation of all Arab states without exception," Lavrov pointed out.
Ahmed Aboul Gheit said that Russia is one of the major forces on the international and regional arena.
In November 2011, the League suspended Syria’s membership in the organization amid the beginning of the domestic crisis in the country, TASS recalls.
