The terrorist organization Islamic State may try to complicate the situation in the Russian Federation, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"The operation in Syria is aimed at containing the threat in advance," Kommersant cited the director of the Department for New Challenges and Threats of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Ilya Rogachev, as saying.
The diplomat noted that all the threats to Russian security are considered with the whole seriousness and professionalism. Rogachev said that Russia’s experience in countering international terrorism in the North Caucasus has become the most successful experience in deradicalization of local residents.
"For all this it is necessary to be grateful to Russia’s special services, law enforcement agencies, to everyone who has put a barrier to the ‘military-scale’ terrorist threat, as we say, in the south of our country," he said.
