The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that Russia does not support the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
"We don't support the regime of Bashar al-Assad, but we support him in the fight against terrorism, as we support the opposition and the Kurds, who are struggling against Daesh," she said.
She noted that, by protecting the sovereignty of Syria, Moscow hasn't accepted any of the warring parties, it has not violated international law, and was able to do everything to prevent a possible attack by the US against Damascus.
