Today, the Russian State Duma ratified the agreement between the governments of Russia and Azerbaijan on promotion and mutual protection of investments, which will allow to create the necessary legal framework in the field of protection of mutual investments and settlement of investment disputes.
According to the document, each side provides investors of each other with the treatment no less favorable than the one that is provided to the investments of its own investors or any third State, - Sputnik Georgia reports.
In particular, the document envisaged safeguards for the protection of investments from compulsory withdrawal - nationalization, expropriation or any other measures, which have the same effect, except in cases when such measures are taken in the public interest while respecting the order.
