A Russian Su-24 frontline bomber rolled off the runway on takeoff from Russia’s Hmeymim air base in Syria today, Russia’s defense ministry said.
The ministry added that the warplane’s crew died in the accident.
"The plane’s crew failed to eject and died," the ministry said, adding that no damage on the ground was reported.
According to reports from the scene, a technical fault was believed to be behind the accident, TASS reported.
