Syrian settlement, the upcoming fifth Caspian summit and bilateral relations were in focus of a telephone conversation between Russian and Iranian Foreign Ministers, Sergey Lavrov and Mohammad Javad Zarif, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a message posted on its website.
"The two top diplomats discussed issues of bilateral relations, the fifth Caspian summit and a number of aspects of the Syrian settlement," the statement reads.
A summit of the leaders of the five Caspian littoral states, namely Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan, will be held in Kazakhstan’s Aktau in early August. Ministerial talks are to precede the summit, which is expected to yield a convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea, TASS recalls.
