Russian and Turkish FMs discuss grain deal and Syria

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov meet with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu on the sidelines of G20 foreign ministers’ meeting on Wednesday

The Russian diplomat said that the grain deal could only be extended with the interests of Russian producers of agriculture products and fertilizers taken into consideration.

"During the discussion of the prospects of implementation of the Black Sea grain initiative the Russian side stressed that the package agreement on grain could only be extended with the interests of Russian producers of agriculture products and fertilizers regarding uninterrupted access to global markets considered," according to a statement published by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Moreover, the ministers discussed the issues of the Russian-Turkish cooperation in the trade and economic areas, including assistance to Ankara in relief of the consequences of February earthquakes. The two countries’ top diplomats also focused on normalization of ties between Turkey and Syria.
