Russian becomes one of main Daesh propaganda languages

Russian language, along with Arabic and English, is becoming one of the languages most commonly used by Daesh to spread propaganda, the head of the CIS Anti-Terrorist Center, Colonel General Andrei Novikov, said.

"This reflects the caliphate's intention to attract Russian-speaking volunteers from Russia and the Central Asian region, as well as the fact that these states are among Daesh' targets," RIA Novosti cited him as saying.

Novikov said that many Daesh recruits are returning home as a result of the Russian airstrikes in Syria. He called for migration controls to be tightened and for international cooperation to be enhanced to prevent the possible consequences.
