Azerbaijan is one of the most attractive countries for Russia in terms of development of cooperation in the sphere of production and trade, the Russian industrialists said in an interview to Vestnik Kavkaza in the fields of the constituent meeting of the Russian-Azerbaijani Business Council.
So, the deputy director of the Department of interaction with the Customs Union and Economic Cooperation with the countries of the CIS Economic Development of Russia, Pavel Shevtsov, said that the Russian government expects to build the trade relations with Azerbaijan.
"Due to the fact that the last year the situation was unfavorable, we received a serious drop of the trade and economic turnover from $ 4 billion in 2014 to $ 2.8 billion in 2015. In this case, in physical terms, the drop was only 5%, and this makes us confident enough and optimistic in the sense that the trade and economic relations between Russia and Azerbaijan will grow only. The growing economy of Azerbaijan and increasing quality of Russian products that we can offer to our Azerbaijani partners, provides optimism,’’ Pavel Shevtsov said.
The president of the Russian Grain Union, Arkady Zlochevsky, drew attention to the possibility of a broader economic contacts between the two countries. "Today our trade and economic relations are good, but still there is a very great potential for expansion, and, of course, it is necessary to implement it,’’ he called.
The managing director of the non-financial support of JSC ‘Russian export center’, Constantin Evstyukhin, told that the request to support the cooperation between entrepreneurs of the two countries has appeared to be very high. ‘’The requests made by the enterprises, which is important, have been voiced in different economic sectors: in the agricultural machinery, banking, pharmaceuticals and many others. It is time to diversify and develop the bilateral relations agenda,’’ he said.
The director of the Association ‘Rosagromash’, Evgeniy Korchevoi drew attention to the need to raise the level of the economic relations between Russia and Azerbaijan to the level of the political contacts in Moscow and Baku. "Now a big request for the Russian business to increase the supply of products to Azerbaijan has appeared, and Azerbaijan has increased the demand for the high-quality and relatively cheap Russian goods. The creation of this Council will not only strengthen the friendship between our two countries, but will also result in that our countries' trade turnover will grow,’’ the industrialist expressed confidence.
"Now we are ready to catch up missed, to increase our contacts, the number of conferences and demonstrations. For comparison, in Rosagromash there are more than 100 companies, but only three companies supply their products to Azerbaijan. Accordingly, we see our mission in demonstrating how promising is the cooperation with the republic and to ensure that the largest possible number of Russian producers of the agricultural machines can find customers of their products there. We want to show the Russian agricultural machinery in all the glory to the farmers in Azerbaijan, because it works better than those coming from Europe or the United States, and it is more available in price,’’ Evgeniy Korchevoi said.
