Russian coaches choose candidate for football union head elections

The Russian National Football Coaches Union has nominated Valery Gazzaev as a candidate to run in the elections of the president of the Russian Football Union (RFU), the Union Chairman Mikhail Gershkovich said, TASS reports.

"The organization’s bureau meeting was held today and we unanimously nominated Valery Gazzaev as a candidate for the post of the president of the Russian Football Union. We believe that he is a person who can considerably influence the reform of Russian football that needs it very much now," Gershkovich said.

The elections of the RFU president will be held in Moscow on September 24. The deadline for applications to run in the elections is August 15.
