Russian communist leader congratulates Baku on hosting European Games

Gennady Zyuganov, a member of the Russian State Duma, leader of the Communist Party, has congratulated Baku on hosting the First European Games. He met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, continuing the talks started in January, and congratulated his wife Mehriban, who had presented the Games in Moscow.
Regarding the opening of the Fans' House, Zyuganov reminded about such famous athletes as Irina Rodnina and Vladislav Tretiak.
The leader of the communists said that he had watched the triathlon, which was won by a Swiss athlete.
In his opinion, Azerbaijan did a remarkable job in organizing the Games, doing it in just 2.5 years when normally 5-7 would be needed. He said that Azerbaijan had the best coastline in the world, about 16km long. Concerning the opening of the European Games, Zyuganov believes that Azerbaijan used the best achievements of such events in Moscow, Beijing, Athens and London.
The politician said that he will pay tribute to his ancestors in Baku. His father was wounded in Sevastopol and treated in Baku, undergoing 5 operations. His father graduated from a second institute before completing his treatment program.
