In an interview with the Vestnik Kavkaza correspondent, Russian gymnasts who won gold in the exercises with three hoops and two pairs of clubs at the 37th World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships in Baku, said that they had won thanks to the coordinated work of the team.
The gymnasts said that the third place in the group finals in the exercises with a ball did not demoralize them, although they had very little time between two performance.
“We had very little time to prepare for the second exercise, since we performed the sixth in the first exercise, and in the second, we were the third to perform. We had to change clothes, hairstyle to create a whole look, and, of course, prepare the program,” the athletes said.
This week, on September 16-22, the 37th World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships is held at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku. The tournament is the qualification competition for the 32nd Olympic Games in Tokyo. More than 300 gymnasts from 61 countries are competing for nine sets of medals. The motto of the tournament is “Fairy tales will come to life”.
