Russian hockey team reaches Olympic finals

Russia's hockey team has reached the men’s hockey finals of the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics, beating the Czech Republic in the semifinals 3-0.

The Russians, playing as the Olympic Athletes from Russia because of a doping ban, won on a pair of second-period goals by Nikita Gusev and Vladislav Gavrikov less than a minute apart. Ilya Kovalchuk added an empty-netter with 20.9 seconds left to seal the Russians' first trip to the gold medal game since 1998, NBC reported.

The national hockey teams of Canada and Germany will meet later today to determine which team will face the Russians in the final at the 2018 Winter Olympic.
