The plane from Yekaterinburg, heading to Egypt, made an emergency landing in Sochi. The liner was not immediately allowed into Iraqi airspace. As a result, tourists arrived in Sharm el-Sheikh 4 hours late.

The plane of the Rossiya Airlines was not allowed into the Iraqi airspace on its way to Egypt.

The carrier made a direct flight from Yekaterinburg to Sharm el-Sheikh. Despite having the necessary permits, Iraq did not allow the aircraft into its airspace without explanation. The aircraft made several circles over Iran, and then was sent to the Sochi airport. A few hours later, the carrier received permission to fly. As a result, the plane safely reached the Egyptian resort. The incident happened last night.

The delay amounted to 4 hours. Usually, the average travel time between cities is 6 hours 15 minutes.

Egypt remains a popular tourist destination among Russians. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation stressed the importance to increase the number of direct flights between countries. Currently, there are over 100 flights between the countries per week.
