Russian national football team climbs to 35th spot in FIFA World Ranking

The Russian national football team has climbed one place up in the FIFA World Ranking’s ladder, according to the list published by the world’s governing body of football on Thursday.

The Russian squad is now holding 35th place with 1,493 points. The national football team of Russia has not played international matches since November 2021.

The press service of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) announced on February 28 that the Russian national team and all professional clubs representing the country were barred from taking part in FIFA tournaments.

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) stated later the same decision in regard to Russian football. Both FIFA and UEFA linked their decision to Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine.

Brazil tops the FIFA World Ranking with 1,837 points ahead of the teams from Belgium (2nd place, 1,821 points) and Argentina (3rd place, 1,770 points).

The rest of the Top-10 after the current podium of Brazil, Belgium and Argentina are: 4th France (1,764 points); 5th England (1,737 points); 6th Spain (1,716); 7th Italy (1,713); 8th the Netherlands (1,679); 9th Portugal (1,678) and 10th Denmark (1,665 points).
