Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Russia condemns Washington’s sanctions on Iranian top diplomat Mohammad Javad Zarif.
"We certainly condemn the U.S. administration’s move to impose sanctions on the Iranian foreign minister," TASS cited the Russian diplomat as saying.
Ryabkov stressed that it is an unprecedented measure of pressure that should have no place in today’s international relations.
On July 30, Washington introduced sanctions against Zarif. Being on the sanction list means that one's assets in the U.S. are frozen, while U.S. citizens and companies are banned from engaging in business activities with those on the list.
