After the qualifying group exercises with five balls, three hoops and two pairs of clubs, Kazakh gymnast Sagina Muratkyzy said in an interview with the Vestnik Kavkaz correspondent that she really enjoyed performing at the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Baku.
“We didn’t perform very well, could do much better. But we really enjoyed performing here. The arena and lightening are very beautiful, and the audience is very supportive,” the gymnast said.
The athlete had already performed in Baku, at the World Cup. “It became lighter here. It is easier for us to perform when the arena is lightened when you see spectators and judges,” Sagina Muratkyzy explained.
Speaking about today's performance, she complained that the Kazakhstan team did not manage to make everything they wanted. “We could not handle the excitement. Now, we will prepare for other competitions next year,” the gymnast said.
This week, on September 16-22, the 37th World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships is held at the National Gymnastics Arena in Baku. The tournament is the qualification competition for the 32nd Olympic Games in Tokyo. More than 300 gymnasts from 61 countries are competing for nine sets of medals. The motto of the tournament is “Fairy tales will come to life”.
