Samad Mammadli: home ground help me win Youth Olympic Festival silver

Home ground helped Azerbaijani gymnast Samad Mammadli to win the silver medal in the pommel horse competitions at the XV Summer European Youth Olympic Festival in Baku, he said, speaking with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza.

Samad Mammadli stressed that although one could think that performing such exercises is easy, in fact it is very difficult. "I tried to do my best. It could have been better. But I will try to do much better next time," the athlete assured.

"I was at many competitions, but unfortunately there were no results. This is the first step,” the Azerbaijani gymnast explained, noting that this time he lacked confidence.

"I can do much better, I just need more practice," he said, stressing that the coach always tells him the same.

The gymnast said that his whole family, all his relatives cheered him in the National Gymnastics Arena stands.
