The second round of the FIA Formula 2 Championship will take place in Baku this weekend. The Championship organizing committee told Vestnik Kavkaza that this year 10 teams will take part in the championship, and each team includes 2 drivers.
The teams are as follows: RUSSIAN TIME (Artem Markelov and Tadasuke Makino); PERTAMINA PREMA THEODORE RACING (Sean Gelael and Nick de Vries); DAMS (Alexander Albon and Nicholas Latifi); ART GRAND PRIX (Jack Aitken and George Russell); MP MOTORSPORTS (Roberto Merhi and Ralph Boschung); BWT ARDEN (Maximilian Gunther and Nirei Fukuzumi); CAMPOS VEXATEC RACING (Luca Ghiotto and Roy Nissany); TRIDENT (Arjun Maini and Santino Ferrucci); CARLIN (Sergio Sette Camara and Lando Norris), CHAROUZ RACING SYSTEM (Louis Deletraz and Antonio Fuoco).
On April 27, there will be free practice 11.00 - 11.45 local time, qualifying session will take place at 15:00 – 15:30 local time and the press conference will be held at 15:45 local time. On April 28, feature race will start at 12:00 local time (29 laps), the press conference will be held at 13:20 local time. On April 29, sprint race will start at 13:10 local time (21 laps) and the press conference will be held at 14.15 local time.
In the first round at Bahrain, Lando Norris (Carlin) grabbed his maiden victory having secured pole position for the feature race (39 points), as Artem Markelov’s (RUSSIAN TIME) thrilling recovery drive (30 points) in the opening race allowed him to fight for victory in the sprint after a masterclass in tyre management. Norris heads Markelov in the standings by nine points, with the former driver’s teammate Sergio Sette Camara slotting into third place (28 points).
Last year, Charles Leclerc of Prema Racing won the first race of FIA Formula 2 in Baku, while Pertamina Arden's Norman Nato showed the best result in the second race.
