9/11 attacks: the lessons not taken

15 years have passed since the unprecedented attacks on the United States in the world history, known as the 9/11 attacks.

The attacks killed 2,996 people and injured over 6,000 others.

Today the entire world community remembers the victims of this barbaric act.

The attacks of September 11, 2001 became a test for the US and the geopolitical situation in the world as a whole. The world was facing a new enemy – the global terrorism. However, Washington has failed to learn how to fight this threat.

Today the French President, Francois Hollande, pointed out that the US administration uses wrong means that was taken 15 years ago after the tragic events in order to fight against terrorism.

"The measures taken by the US administration in response to the terrorist attacks, did not help to annihilate that danger, but contributed to its rise, in particular, in Iraq,’’ TASS cites  French President as saying.

The French leader also admitted that "France although Paris refused to join the intervention in Iraq and even condemned it, France has also become a victim of the chaos caused by the intervention."
