Baku plans to develop bilateral cooperation with Russia. This statement was made by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev during a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
The Head of State pointed out that the Azerbaijani authorities highly appreciated Vladimir Putin’s visit to the opening of the First European Games on the Day of Russia. "It's worth it. This is a prime indicator of the high level of our relations,’’ RIA Novosti cites him as saying.
Ilham Aliyev said that during this period the head of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Elmar Mammadyarov, paid a visit to Moscow, but this time Sergey Lavrov has arrived in Baku. He also noted that these visits show the dynamics of the development of the two countries' bilateral cooperation. "We solve it quickly and effectively. There are a lot of issues of a bilateral nature, and we actively cooperate in international organizations and hold periodic consultations, especially at the present time, when everything is changing in the world and in our region,’’ the President said.
Thus, the Foreign Ministers’ visits demonstrate the firm strategic partnership between Russia and Azerbaijan, which successfully operates in almost all areas of life, including political, economic, energy and humanitarian.
"And we intend to continue the effective and successful development of our bilateral relations,’’ Ilham Aliyev said.
Sergey Lavrov, in his turn, spoke about improving economic relations between Russia and Azerbaijan, as well the upcoming visit of the Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov to Azerbaijan.
"We are glad of the growth of the supply of Azerbaijani agricultural products to Russia,’’ the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
Lavrov thanked the Baku authorities for taking measures which give an opportunity to raise the volume of international transport of Russian freight companies.
