The CIS Executive Secretary, the head of the Commonwealth observation mission for the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, Sergei Lebedev, reported today that voting is taking place with a high voter turnout.
"My personal impression, the impression of my colleagues from visiting polling stations, which we shared, is that the elections are being held peacefully and with a sufficiently high voter turnout. There are many local observers from political parties, candidates, and this indicates that the elections are open," he stated.
"As I see it, there is good organization, the high activity of citizens at the elections says that people feel a sense of responsibility for the future of their country, for those whom they elect to the parliament. Secondly, everything that we see indicates that the elections will be held peacefully," Trend quoted him as saying.
