Sevan closed for COVID-19 quarantine

A number of restrictions were imposed in the Armenian city of Sevan, Gegharkunik region by the decision of Armenia's Vice PM Tigran Avinyan, who is the commandant for the state of emergency.

In particular, a special regime has been established for entry and exit into the administrative territory of the Sevan community, which implies a ban on the entry and exit of people and vehicles, except for movement for the purpose of supplying essential goods, accessories, food, medicine and fuel.

An exception to this rule will be valid until 13:00 on May 25 - entry into the city will be allowed to persons who have the right to permanent residence, or actually residing in the city.

To ensure compliance with the regime the National Security Service and the police are instructed to establish checkpoints and inspection points in certain places for persons and vehicles authorized to enter the city.

A number of temporary restrictions have also been introduced on certain types of economic activity, ARKA reported.

The state of emergency, introduced in Armenia on March 16, 2020 and extended to May 14, was extended until June 13 inclusive.
