Seven ships to deliver Ukrainian foods to EU, China

Seven bulkers carrying food departed from Ukrainian ports on Tuesday, having been cleared by the Joint Coordination Center (JCC).

"The Joint Coordination Centre (JCC) reports that seven vessels left Ukrainian ports today [on October 25] carrying a total of 224,850 metric tonnes of grain and other food products under the Black Sea Grain Initiative," the JCC said in statement.

Two bulkers, the Captain J. Neofotistos carrying 68,000 tonnes of wheat and the Zumrut Ana with 6,500 tonnes of sunflower oil are destined for Spain. The MV Captain V. Madias vessel carrying 63,650 tonnes of corn started its way to China, while the MV Kaptan Arif Bayraktar with 50,000 tonnes of corn is headed to the Netherlands.

In addition, the Regius will deliver 30,000 tonnes of rapeseed to EU ports, the Pearl T will transport 4,000 tonnes of sunflower oil to Romania, and the Sahin 1 is to bring 2,900 tonnes of wheat to Greece.

"Grains that reach a destination may go through processing and be trans-shipped to other countries," the JCC said. "As of 25 October, the total tonnage of grain and other foodstuffs exported from the three Ukrainian ports is 8,899,048 metric tonnes. A total of 781 voyages (391 inbound and 390 outbound) have been enabled so far," it said.

In addition, the JCC reported the checking of a mine-like object spotted in the maritime corridor opened for the Black Sea Grain Initiative. "The Joint Coordination Centre (JCC) authorized the dispatch from Odesa port of the tugboat Sapfir and the search and rescue boat SAR-02 to perform a preliminary inspection of a possible mine-like object in the Maritime Humanitarian Corridor," it said.
