Several dead in shooting at Pittsburgh synagogue

Several people were killed when a gunman opened fire at the Tree of Life Congregation synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Saturday, with local media reporting between 4 and 11 fatalities, Ynetnews.com reports. Large police forces rushed to the scene in the area of Wilkins and Shady avenue at around 10am local time. The area has been closed off and the shooter remains active.

The gunman reportedly yelled "Death to Jews" and was wearing a flak jacket. The Conservative Jewish community, which exists for 150 years, convened on Saturday morning at the synagogue at the Squirrel Hill neighborhood in the city, where many Jews live, to celebrate a brit milah.
