Vice-Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel has told Tagesspiegel that he calls for a change in attitude towards Russia, as the solution to the Syrian conflict is in Moscow and Washington.
The Chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Germany noted that regular tensions between Bashar al-Assad, who is supported by Russia, and the opposition, supported by the West, will lead to new waves of refugees who will escape from the war to prosperous Europe.
"Successful negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program have shown that unity can be achieved with the help of Germany and Europe. On this foundation we should make new proposals on the resumption of relations with Russia,’’ RIA Novosti cites the politician.
