Members of the Georgian Solidarity for Peace party will ask Vladimir Putin for Russian citizenship for residents of their country who were once connected with Soviet Russia.

The Georgian Solidarity for Peace party is considering asking Russian President Vladimir Putin to grant Russian citizenship to some residents of the country, the secretary of the association, Mamuka Pipia, said.

It is assumed that certain population groups that in the past were closely connected with Soviet Russia will be able to count on receiving citizenship.

”In the near future, we will turn to the President of Russia with a request to grant citizenship of the Russian Federation to several categories of citizens: those who worked or served in Soviet Russia at Soviet enterprises, those who worked or served throughout the Soviet Union, as well as those born in the USSR,”

- Mamuka Pipia said.
