South-Eastern Europe Defence Ministerial to be held in Tbilisi

The South-Eastern Europe Defence Ministerial (SEDM) will be held in Tbilisi in 2017.

This decision was taken in Rome during the ministerial, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of this format. Georgia was represented by the first deputy head of the defense department Lela Chikovani.

The Tbilisi ministerial, in addition to participating countries will be attended by representatives of Sweden and Finland, Sputnik-Georgia reports.

The Ministry of Defence of Georgia joined the South-Eastern Europe Defence Ministerial (SEDM) initiative in 2013. The country will hold the ministerial as a full member for the first time.
The Southeastern European Defence Ministerial was founded in March 1996 in Tirana. 

Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey, Ukraine and the US are current SEDM participants. Moldova has the status of observer.
