Washington has remained in full compliance with its obligations under the Intermediate-range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty contrary to Russian President Vladimir Putin's statements, the State Department said in a statement.
"The United States is in full compliance with the INF treaty...Moreover, we are not developing exotic new nuclear weapons delivery systems," Reuters cited the statement as saying.
President Putin said in his address to the Federal Assembly that Moscow will match any U.S. move to deploy new nuclear missiles closer to Russia by stationing its own missiles closer to the United States or by deploying faster missiles or both.
