State of emergency declared in New York dew to coronavirus

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo declared a state of emergency on Saturday as the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in New York rose to 76, The New York Times reports.

The governor’s announcement came as concerns about the spread of the virus increased in New York City, which has 11 confirmed cases. The newest one appeared to involve a driver for taxi or ride-sharing services in Queens, officials said.

The epicenter of cases in New York continued to be just north of the city, in Westchester County, where there were 57 in total, the governor said, The New York Times informs.
