State of emergency in Western Georgia due to rain

The heavy rain has caused an extensive damage to several regions of Georgia. Now many villages in the west of the country are flooded, trees uprooted, bridges collapsed, and in the Upper Adjara the local residents were cut off from the outside world due to river overflows.

‘’The counting of damage in the region is underway. It reaches more than 1 million GEL. The villages have a bypass road, which they can use before the completion of the recovery procedures. As for Batumi, here the cleaning work is carried out in an active mode. There is no precise data on how many families remain without electricity supply,’’ RIA Novosti quotes a representative of the local administration as saying.
