The immediate resignation of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is not the subject of the Geneva talks on the settlement of the conflict in Syria, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said in an interview with Welt am Sonntag.
"The immediate resignation of Bashar al-Assad from the president post is not discussed. We intend to create an effective transitional government with executive responsibilities that consists of representatives of the opposition and the regime,’’ RIA Novosti cites him as saying.
