Steinmeier: we cannot ignore new Russia

Germany’s Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said that a way should be found to improve relations with Moscow.

"We cannot just continue seeking that Russia stops being an unpredictably difficult partner. On the contrary, we need to find a way so that the phase of confrontation and the growing tension could again shift to a stable understanding of common security," TASS cited Steinmeier as saying.

The sides should come to an understanding that "true security can be reached only when the other party feels secure," Steinmeier added.

The European Union and the United States imposed the first round of sanctions against Russia over developments in Ukraine in March 2014 and have repeatedly extended and expanded them.
