Russia has no right to decide on Georgia's membership in NATO, the alliance's Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said at the briefing.
"Russia has no right to decide what its neighbors can do because Georgia is a sovereign, independent nation and has the right to decide its own path including what kind of security arrangements Georgia wants to be part of," Agenda.ge cited him as saying.
Stoltenberg noted that only the 29 members of NATO and Georgia can decide when Georgia is going to become a member..."Russia has no say in that process," he stressed.
Russian President Vladimir Putin recently said that Russia will react ‘extremely negatively’ to Georgian membership in NATO.
